On 28th January 2023, Malakoff Corporation Berhad (“Malakoff”)’s environmental solutions subsidiary Alam Flora Sdn Bhd (“Alam Flora”) relaunched its service area transformation programme called the ‘Grand 1 Supervisor 1 Transformation Area (“Grand 1S1T”)’ that was implemented in 2017 with the aim of maintaining a prosperous, quality & sustainable community and urban environment. Attended by Alam Flora’s Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Mohd Zain Hassan, the Mayor of Kuantan City Council YH. Dato' Hamdan bin Hussin and SWCorp Pahang’s Director Encik Sharudin Hamid, the launching ceremony was held at the Capsite @ Alam Flora in Shah Alam.
The Grand 1S1T programme is an initiative by the Alam Flora supervisors to make improvements in the concession areas in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Pahang. The transformation initiatives are either related to, or beyond the scope of their original work and conducted in residential areas, as well as in commercial areas. The improvement works are executed in existing transformation areas (Revisit) and transformation of new areas that have a high impact on the local community (Big Impact).
Among the improvement activities carried out are repairing and painting of the garden facilities, cleansing activities in public places, tending to playgrounds, back alleys and beach areas, as well as repairing gutter and sidewalk structures with minor damage.
According to Dato’ Mohd Zain, the Grand 1S1T programme is part of the company's Corporate Social Responsibility (“CSR”) initiatives which started in July 2017. To date, it has covered 481 residential and commercial areas (Kuala Lumpur - 249 areas, Putrajaya - 30 areas and Pahang - 202 areas), involving more than 100 supervisors every year.
He hopes that this kind of programme can be continued in the future to become a driving motivational wheel for the team to do work outside of their work scope to ensure that the areas under supervision are always beautiful, fresh and clean for the well-being of the local residents.
This initiative is in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goal No. 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities where Alam Flora commits to make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.
