Malakoff Corporation Berhad (“Malakoff”) successfully organised its 8th Mini Futsal Tournament as part of its continuous engagement with key stakeholders. The tournament this year witnessed participation from the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (“KeTSA”), Energy Commission (“ST”), Sustainable Energy Development Authority Malaysia (“SEDA”) and Tenaga Nasional Berhad (“TNB”). The half-day event that was held at Futsal Hub, Ampang on 25th June 2022 had a total of 80 players coming together to display their best tactical skills.
The tournament had two categories, namely the Men’s Five-a-Side and Women’s Five-a-Side. The first match had its kick off at 9.30 AM and it was a close battle for points from then on, with the players displaying a great capacity of intermittent endurance, tight dribbling skills and controlled passing. After an intense showdown in the round robin game, the top two teams who proceeded to the finals with the highest points were TNB and ST in the Women’s category and TNB and SEDA in the Men’s category. Fans and supporters were treated to non-stop action at both sides of the goal and in the end, TNB emerged as deserving Champions in both categories after an impressive run throughout the tournament. In the Finals of the Women’s category, TNB beat ST 4-0 while their Men’s team took home the winning prize after defeating SEDA in a penalty shootout. Despite the tough competition, Malakoff’s Men’s and Women’s team put on a spirited display with their never-say-die attitude and gave the competing teams a run for their money.
The prizes for all winners were presented by Malakoff’s SVP of Local Generation Division, En Mohammed Azmil Ismail, accompanied by Mr. Saravanan Desigamanie, Head of Investor Relations and Corporate Communications. The event is part of the Group’s key activities with industry stakeholders, and it provided an opportunity for everyone present to get to know each other better while enjoying a healthy rivalry on the futsal ground. The event ended with a photo opportunity with the respective winners followed by lunch. We would like to thank all those who were involved in making this event a success and we look forward to next year’s edition!
