Sharing important news and updates for you and the community
On 10th January 2021, Malakoff Corporation Berhad (“Malakoff”), in collaboration with the State Executive Council of Johor, launched the ‘Back to School’ programme as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (“CSR”) Education Programme. The launch was officiated by Yang Berhormat Tuan Haji Mazlan bin Bujang, the State EXCO of Education, Information, Heritage and Culture. Encik Jasni Bin Omar, District of Pontian Education Director and Tanjung Bin Power (“TBP”) Plant Manager, Encik Kopli Yunus were also in attendance during the launching ceremony.
The programme is aimed at providing the basic necessities such as school bags, stationery and school uniforms for primary school children before the start of the school year. It also serves as a morale boost for the children to elevate their academic performance as well as for the parents by ensuring that the supplies needed are sufficient. A total of 789 students from 27 primary schools from the Kukup and Pekan Nanas districts will benefit from this initiative.
“We understand how challenging the past year has been for everyone, with the limitation imposed on business hours and operations. Sacrifices had to be made just to make ends meet. This has prompted me to offer any type of help I could in ensuring the community members’ burden are eased especially when it comes to their children’s education”, said YB Tuan Haji Mazlan in his opening speech.
“I would also like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude towards Malakoff for tirelessly initiating a communal effort such as this especially when it concerns the welfare of the children here. I hope this ‘silaturahim’ can continue despite the uncertainties of the current situation that is affecting the country, as well as the rest of the world”.
The Malakoff CSR Education Programme has further elevated the company’s brand through community engagement programmes, particularly in areas where we operate. It also raises awareness among our employees while providing them the opportunity to engage with the local communities. This demonstrates our commitment to enhance our strong relationship with our key stakeholders and contribute to their socioeconomic development through education.
