Malakoff Corporation Berhad (Malakoff Corporation), Malaysia’s leading independent power producer today launched its wholly owned subsidiary, Malakoff Utilities Sdn Bhd (Malakoff Utilities) to reposition its electricity distribution and district cooling business as another core line of business.
With its new identity and relocation to a new innovation hub, Malakoff Utilities, formerly known as Wirazone Sdn Bhd is expected to further expand its operations to support the rapid development in Kuala Lumpur Sentral (KL Sentral) by leveraging on Malakoff Corporation’s solid leadership within the power industry. Currently, Malakoff Utilities holds exclusive rights to distribute electricity and district cooling business within the KL Sentral development and transportation hub.
Speaking at the event, Zainal Abidin Jalil, the Chief Executive Officer of Malakoff said, “I am excited to unveil the new brand identity of Malakoff Utilities today. The new corporate and visual identity reflects Malakoff Utilities as being truly an integral part of Malakoff Corporation. In addition to a new logo, Malakoff Utilities has relocated to a new site to project greater visibility to our customers.”
“I would like to emphasize that the messages conveyed by the rebranding exercise go well beyond a mere upgrade of visuals. I hope it allows better customer experience. The new identity links Malakoff Utilities to Malakoff Corporation’s solid leadership within the industry,” he added.
He anticipated that the rebranding will be positively welcomed by all stakeholders involved, and acknowledged the staff of Malakoff Utilities, customers and business partners for their dedication and contribution towards the Company’s success throughout the years.
Malakoff Utilities recently signed a Chilled Water Supply Agreement with 348 Sentral Sdn Bhd, Excellent Bonanza Sdn Bhd and NU Sentral Sdn Bhd, the developers of mix development projects in KL Sentral. With this agreement, the Company is set to increase its current Centralized Chilled Water Plant’s capacity of 7,000 Refrigerant Ton (RT) to 17,000 RT to meet the growing development needs of KL Sentral.
In addition, Malakoff Utilities provides the Thermal Energy Storage (TES) in its operations which enhances the Green Building Index for the buildings it services as TES is energy efficient in its delivery to end users.
Malakoff Utilities has recorded over a decade of strong Operation and Maintenance (O&M) track record and has successfully met the needs of its customers. The Company is expected to create more value for its partners in the years to come with the new identity. Additionally, the Company will continue to seek optimal design strategies to further maximise operational efficiency.
