On 11 February 2019, Teknik Janakuasa Sdn Bhd (TJSB), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Malakoff Corporation Bhd (Malakoff), a member of MMC Group, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Centre for Power Electrical Engineering Studies (CEPES) of the Universiti Teknologi MARA’s (UiTM) Engineering Faculty for future collaborations on research and innovation, industrial training and other relevant academic activities. The ceremony took place at the Faculty of Engineering, UiTM Shah Alam campus.

UiTM is a leading university that regularly collaborates with external parties to strengthen its ties by working together with key players in industries, to have students undergo a holistic academic training before graduating as highly skilled individuals in their respective fields of study. TJSB meanwhile is involved in the operations and maintenance of power plants and water desalination facilities and provides expert training in relevant fields.

The memorandum was signed by YBhg. Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Mohd Nasir Taib, Dean of the Electrical Engineering Faculty of UiTM and En. Azhari Sulaiman, Senior Vice President, Operation & Project Management Services, Malakoff on behalf of TJSB.

The two-way understanding would increase efforts from both parties to excel in research and expertise and subsequently contribute to the development of human capital.

Commenting on the signing, Prof. Nasir said that, "the partnership between UiTM and Malakoff encourages the exchange of information, expertise and experience in professional development. The areas of collaboration are not just limited to research relating to the trend of the power generation industry, but we also seek to collaborate on training and exchange programmes between TJSB and CEPES."
