    Sharing important news and updates for you and the community Back Dua Ceramah Perdana KLHQ Imarahkan Ramadhan 8 May 2019 Malakoff Corporation Berhad (“Malakoff”) telah menganjurkan Ceramah Perdana KLHQ pada 9 dan 21 Mei 2019 bertempat di Auditorium MAX, Kuala Lumpur, yang disampaikan oleh dua orang pendakwah terkenal, iaitu Ustaz Dato’ Haji Badli Shah Alauddin dan Ustaz Ahmad Dusuki Abdul Rani. Selain berdakwah, Ustaz Dato’ Badli Shah juga berkhidmat sebagai Ketua Penolong Pengarah, Bahagian Pengurusan Masjid dan Surau di Jabatan Agama Islam Pahang. Ceramah-ceramah tersebut telah dihadiri oleh lebih kurang 80 orang warga kerja Malakoff. Ceramah Ustaz Dato’ Badli Shah berkisar tentang ibadah puasa di bulan Ramadhan dan beliau telah menitipkan 3 perkara penting yang sangat berkait dengan bulan yang mulia ini. Pertama, hendaklah memperbanyakkan bersyukur kepada Allah dan merasa seronok dengan kedatangan Ramadhan. Sebagai umat Islam yang tinggal di Malaysia, kita seharusnya bersyukur kerana tempoh berpuasa adalah sekitar 12 ke 13 jam sehari berbanding mereka di Eropah yang berpuasa di musim panas dan terpaksa menghadapi tempoh berpuasa sehingga 20 jam sehari. Seterusnya, beliau menyeru para hadirin untuk memperbanyakkan berdoa supaya dipermudahkan dalam menghadapi pelbagai ujian semasa berpuasa. “Ibadat puasa juga adalah lebih rumit dari ibadat haji. Justeru itu, kita dituntut untuk melengkapkan diri dengan ilmu pengetahuan yang cukup bagi menghadapi Ramadhan, terutamanya tentang larangan-larangn ketika berpuasa.” Sebagai kesinambungan dari Ceramah Perdana Awal Ramadhan tersebut, Ustaz Dusuki pula menyampaikan ceramah sempena sambutan Nuzul Quran. Menurut Ustaz Dusuki, Al Quran merupakan tanda kebesaran Allah dan salah satu daripada mukjizat Rasulullah s.a.w. Ia diturunkan sebagai panduan kepada manusia untuk membezakan antara kebenaran dan kebatilan. Ustaz Dusuki menyatakan bahawa Rasulullah s.a.w sangat menantikan kehadiran bulan Ramadhan yang mulia sehingga Baginda telah mengajarkan doa khusus untuk dibaca dari bulan Rejab, iaitu dua bulan sebelum Ramadhan, supaya umatnya dipertemukan dengan Ramadhan untuk beribadat dan memanfaatkan bulan tersebut. Beliau juga mengingatkan hadirin supaya mempunyai fokus di dalam hidup sebagai hamba Allah. “Jangan sampai kita terkejut apabila Malaikat Maut menjelma dan meminta untuk diberi sedikit masa lagi untuk berbuat kebaikan, kerana ajal tidak akan dilewatkan atau diawalkan walau sesaat.” Oleh itu, beliau menyeru hadirin untuk memenuhi bulan Ramadhan dengan membaca Al Quran, bertaubat dan berdoa untuk mendapat syurga Allah. Semoga ilmu yang diperolehi menerusi ceramah-ceramah ini dapat diamalkan dan dijadikan panduan dalam kehidupan.

    Sharing important news and updates for you and the community Back Malakoff Vendors’ Awareness Day – Enhancing Procurement Practices & Strengthening Governance 13 June 2022 Malakoff’s Procurement and Risk Management teams with Tuan Jayakantha Kumar, Deputy Head of Government-Linked Companies (“GLC”) & Private Sector Brand (standing, fourth from right) The third edition of the Malakoff Vendors’ Awareness Day was successfully held on 14 June 2022, in collaboration with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (“MACC”) at Malakoff’s Headquarters, Plaza Sentral, Kuala Lumpur. The event, held virtually, witnessed overwhelming participation from registered vendors as we continue to work together with our business associates to uphold governance best practices. The main objective of this event was to improve the quality of Malakoff’s procurement procedures, enhance its process efficiency while promoting transparency and strengthen the company’s contract management processes. This initiative is also in line with Goal 12 and Goal 16 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (“SDGs”) which involves promoting public procurement practices that are sustainable as well as committing to fight corruption and increase transparency, respectively. Mr. Anthony Hiew, Malakoff’s Head of Group Procurement giving his welcoming remarks to the vendors In his welcoming remarks, Mr. Anthony Hiew, the Head of Group Procurement highlighted that the topics covered in this event had been carefully selected to enable vendors to have a better understanding of Malakoff’s requirements and increase their awareness on procurement best practices. Tuan Jayantha Kumar reiterates the importance of integrity Encik Adi Faimi, the Head of Risk, Process Improvement & Integrity then led the session with a brief introduction to Malakoff Group’s Anti-Bribery Management System (“ABMS”). This was followed by a presentation by Tuan Jayantha Kumar, the Deputy Head of Government-Linked Companies (“GLC”) & Private Sector Brand from the MACC on Section 17A Corporate Liability & Bribery Matters. His talk focused on the various acts of bribery that commercial organisations are prone to commit should integrity guidelines be compromised, and the subsequent catastrophic implications on the individual and the organisation. Q&A session with the participating vendors The virtual session proceeded with other speakers presenting on various topics such as vendor management, procurement processes & procedures and tender formats, along with a Q&A session at the end of each topic. Participants were also introduced to the Group’s Vendor & Document Management Portal System (“VDMP”), a new platform to process Malakoff’s procurement via the online portal. The event ended with a fun, engaging quiz which gauged the participants’ knowledge and awareness on the MACC Act, Whistleblowing Policy, and the Vendor Code of Conduct. Overall, this initiative successfully brought together our business associates with a common goal of ensuring efficient, effective and ethical procurement processes, in parallel with strong governance practices. On 27 November 2020, Malakoff was honoured with the certification of ISO37001:2016 ABMS by SIRIM QAS International Sdn Bhd for its commitment in upholding the highest standards of ethical conduct, integrity and accountability in all of its business activities and operations. This is in compliance with the new Section 17A of the MACC Amendment Act 2018, enforced by the Malaysian Government on 1 June 2020. The Group continues to carry out key governance activities as part of its ESG efforts, focusing on building an effective and accountable working environment.

    Sharing important news and updates for you and the community Back Malakoff Continues Its Free Breakfast Programme, ‘Jom Sarap’ For The Students Of Mukim Serkat 30 March 2019 Malakoff Corporation Berhad (“Malakoff”) launched its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme called ‘Jom Sarap’ on 31 March 2019 at Sekolah Kebangsaan Andek Mori in Mukim Serkat, Johor for the second year running. Officiated by Yang Berhormat Tuan Suhaizan Kayat, Speaker Dewan Undangan Negeri Johor and witnessed by Dato’ Ahmad Fuaad Kenali, Chief Executive Officer of Malakoff, the programme was continued after gaining positive feedback and tremendous support from the participating schools. The launch was also attended by Yang Berusaha Tuan Roslan Bokari, Penghulu Mukim Serkat, and Tuan Haji Shaharudin Basri bin Ibrahim, Pegawai Pendidikan Daerah Pontian. Aimed to provide the school children with nutritious breakfast to improve their focus in class and to encourage them to come early to school, this year, a total of 985 school children from 7 different schools located in Mukim Serkat, Pontian will benefit from this initiative which will run from 31 March 2019 until the end of the current school year. The schools involved are Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Durian, Sekolah Kebangsaan Serkat, Sekolah Kebangsaan Andek Mori, Sekolah Kebangsaan Permas Kelapa, Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Sinaran Chokoh, Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Boh and Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (Cina) Pei Chiao. Speaking of the CSR programme, Dato’ Ahmad Fuaad Kenali said, “As the programme has been proved effective in elevating the students’ focus and concentration in class, it is our duty to ensure that this continues. We truly hope that by consuming a wholesome breakfast every morning, they will not only feel energized in school, but they’ll embed it in their daily routine to eat a proper meal for breakfast for a much healthier lifestyle”. In his speech, Yang Berhormat Tuan Suhaizan expressed his gratitude towards Malakoff’s involvement with the local community. “We are grateful to Malakoff for their contribution to the local community, especially when it comes to helping the younger generation improve and excel in their education.” “A lot of the families here work day and night to make ends meet. Therefore, such programme is imperative to reduce the gap between the families living in the city and those living in the rural area and give their children an equal playing field to compete with each other in terms of academics.” The school children were later served with breakfast by YB Suhaizan and Dato’ Fuaad who were appropriately clad in aprons and hats, and mingled with them at the school canteen. Further to “Jom Sarap”, Malakoff will be conducting a series of tuition classes for UPSR candidates which commences from April until August this year, and a UPSR motivational and examination technique seminar. Collectively, all of the said programmes are under Malakoff’s CSR Education Programme in Mukim Serkat. An orphan and student from Sekolah Kebangsaan Andek Mori, Zulaikha Zaini expressed her relief with the introduction of this initiative. “Breakfast is not always served at home and I usually go to school on an empty stomach. Hence, this initiative ensures that I get proper nutrition in the morning that helps me to concentrate in class as I aim to work hard to give a better future for my family.”

    Sharing important news and updates for you and the community Back Karnival Sukan Rakyat Mukim Serkat Masuk Tahun Kelima 1 December 2017 Pada 2 dan 3 Disember 2017, JKKK Mukim Serkat dan JKKK Kg Chokoh dengan kerjasama Malakoff Corporation Berhad (“Malakoff”) telah mengadakan Karnival Sukan Rakyat Mukim Serkat bertempat di Air Pengkalan Kg Chokoh, Pontian, Johor. Karnival tersebut telah dirasmikan oleh wakil rasmi Ahli Dewan Undangan Negeri (“ADUN”) Kukup, En. Hishamuddin Busri. Karnival sukan rakyat yang telah dianjurkan sejak 2013 ini merupakan salah satu tanggungjawab sosial Malakoff untuk mengeratkan lagi jalinan mesra yang sedia ada di antara Malakoff dan penduduk setempat. Karnival ini juga menjadi salah satu medium untuk Malakoff dan penduduk setempat beramah mesra dalam keadaan santai disamping memupuk budaya saing yang sihat dalam aktiviti yang diadakan. Hampir 1000 orang yang terdiri daripada penduduk Mukim Serkat dan wakil Malakoff telah hadir dan memeriahkan suasana dengan menyertai pelbagai aktiviti sepanjang karnival tersebut berlangsung. Sebanyak 23 acara telah dipertandingkan yang dibahagikan kepada acara berkumpulan dan individu. Pada hari pertama, pertandingan memancing telah dijalankan seawal jam 10 pagi. Semua peserta telah mempraktikkan kemahiran memancing mereka untuk dinobatkan sebagai juara. Acara diteruskan dengan aktiviti sukan kampung iaitu lari dalam guni, timbang bola takraw, tendang bola pening lalat, makan buah epal dan pancing botol. Pada hari kedua, karnival dimeriahkan pula dengan acara sukan air seperti tangkap itik, pukul bantal dan menyelam. Suasana sekitar Kg Chokoh sungguh meriah dengan kehadiran penduduk setempat yang bersorak memberikan semangat kepada peserta. Kanak-kanak yang hadir turut berpeluang mengambil bahagian dalam acara sukaneka yang dipertandingkan seperti isi air dalam botol dan bawa bola pingpong dalam sudu. Mereka merupakan golongan paling teruja dan gembira apabila berkesempatan menyertai pertandingan yang dianjurkan dan dapat mengisi masa lapang mereka di musim cuti sekolah ini. Karnival sukan kali ini juga dilihat dapat mengukuhkan hubungan di antara keluarga apabila mereka berpeluang menyertai acara anyam ketupat dan raut lidi bersama. Acara boling kelapa, baling kelapa dalam gol, pakaian beragam, teka kacang dalam botol dan karaoke turut berlangsung pada hari kedua. Wakil Malakoff, Pengurus Loji Janakuasa Tanjung Bin, En. Hairol Azizi Tajudin gembira dengan sambutan meriah penduduk tempatan kali ini. “Alhamdulillah, sepanjang dua hari karnival ini berlangsung, penduduk tempatan telah turun padang dan bersama-sama menjayakan karnival sukan tahun ini.” “Pendedahan acara sukan kampung melalui aktiviti sebegini merupakan satu usaha murni untuk mengetengahkan sukan tradisional kepada golongan remaja dan kanak-kanak dan mengekalkan warisan budaya lama yang makin ditenggelami arus kebangkitan nilai-nilai moden,” ujar beliau. Sementara itu, Penghulu Mukim Serkat, En. Roslan Bohari berterima kasih di atas sokongan Malakoff bagi penganjuran sukan rakyat kali ini. “Penglibatan pihak Malakoff dalam aktiviti-aktiviti kemasyarakatan Mukim Serkat terutama sekali dalam penganjuran Karnival Sukan Rakyat ini amat kami hargai. Program seperti ini memberi peluang kepada penduduk setempat untuk hadir dan beriadah bersama-sama sebagai satu keluarga besar,” ujar beliau. Karnival tersebut berakhir dengan upacara penyampaian hadiah kepada pemenang-pemenang pertandingan oleh En. Hishamuddin Busri dan wakil Malakoff.

  • EC Goin’ Fishin’ with Malakoff

    Sharing important news and updates for you and the community Back EC Goin’ Fishin’ with Malakoff 4 August 2018 On 5 July 2018, Malakoff Corporation Berhad hosted the Energy Commission (EC) in an angling event held at a lake in its wholly-owned Port Dickson Power (PDP) Plant in Lukut, Port Dickson. The event was a casual get-together, attended by 40 participants from both organisations. The EC anglers were led by the Head of Enforcement, En. Mohd Nawawi bin Hj Said Abdullah, while Malakoff was represented by PDP Plant Manager, Ir. Mat Nasir bin Mohamed. The event kicked off at 9 a.m. and saw anglers quickly fixing baits to their fishing lines, aiming to be one to reel in the biggest catch. It was a lucky day for everyone as they were able to catch some fish to bring home. After the anglers had turned in their catches to be weighed, Mr. Shahrul Rizal from EC was named the winner of the competition for his Barramundi catch (siakap), which weighed 3.46kg! En. Mat Nasir presented the prizes to the winners up to the sixth place. The participants eagerly exchanged accounts on their past fishing adventures over lunch that was followed by a feast of local fruits that are in season. What a great way to end the day and many thanks to EC for participating in the event!

    Sharing important news and updates for you and the community Back Launching of Malakoff Community Partnerships by Yang Berhormat Senator Dato' Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil 6 December 2009 KUALA LUMPUR: Independent power and water producer Malakoff Corp Bhd, is allocating RM12mil for corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes over the next three years. Chairman Tan Sri Abdul Halim Ali, said the IPP would focus a substantial amount on education, environment and sports under the Malakoff Community Partnership programme. “This is our long-term commitment to become a responsible and active participant of our community,” he said at the launch of its CSR programme by Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil yesterday. Halim also said Malakoff spent RM10mil this year, including RM4.8mil for human capital development and RM3.5mil for the initial kick-off of the programme. He also said Malakoff, the country’s largest IPP with net generating capacity of 5,020 megawatts from its six power stations, would place its community outreach programme under a single and comprehensive programme to make it more effective. Meanwhile, Shahrizat said the economic downturn should not be used as an excuse by companies to remove CSR programmes from their priority list. “CSR is not always about money. It’s about committment, time, ideas and dedication and that is what we want now,” she said. - Bernama

  • Tanjung Bin Power Plant Organises E-Waste Recycling Drive

    Sharing important news and updates for you and the community Back Tanjung Bin Power Plant Organises E-Waste Recycling Drive 7 November 2022 In conjunction with the National Environment Day that falls on 21st October ever year, Tanjung Bin Power Plant (“TBPP”) held an E-Waste Recycling Drive that ran from 17th October 2022 until 4th November 2022. This activity was part of the plant’s efforts to raise awareness among staff on disposing electronic devices through the right channels and measures to ensure environmental health and safety. This initiative is also a collaborative effort between TBPP and Malakoff’s subsidiary, Alam Flora Environmental Solutions (“AFES”). With the aim of garnering as much participation as possible, the recycling drive witnessed involvement of not just TBPP and Tanjung Bin Energy (“TBE”) Power Plant staff but also the in-house contractors. All participants played their role to dispose their used electronic devices at the designated bins provided by AFES. The top three participants with the highest E-Waste contribution (based on weight calculation) would then go on to win prizes at the closing ceremony, which was held on 7th November 2022. In total, 1.48 MT of E-Waste was collected from the recycling drive. Throughout the programme, informative and educational posters on E-Waste and its recycling process as well as its impact on our health were circulated to further promote understanding of E-Waste and the environment. Such facts served as a motivational factor for participants to not only act upon it themselves, but to also encourage their friends and family to do the same. During the closing ceremony, TBPP Manager Encik Kopli bin Yunus was given the honour to present certificates and prizes to the first-prize winner, Encik Ali Kohar Mohamed from TBPP with a total collection of 284 kg of E-Waste, followed by the second-prize winner, Puan Nurisma binti Md Omar from TBPP with 253.2 kg of E-Waste collection. Encik Mohd Rahimi bin Ibrahim from TBPP won third place with total E-Waste collection of 212.6 kg. Consolation prizes were also distributed to seven other participants for their relentless effort. The cooperation and teamwork displayed throughout the drive was proof of the #TeamMalakoff spirit of striving for the best to fulfil a common goal. This initiative is part of Malakoff’s commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goal No. 12 – Sustainable Consumption and Production that focuses on circular economy where products and materials can be reused, remanufactured, recycled or recovered and thus maintained in the economy while hazardous waste is avoided or minimised, and greenhouse gas emissions are eventually prevented or reduced. We would like to thank everyone involved for their support and effort and we hope to see a higher participation next year.

    Sharing important news and updates for you and the community Back Malakoff Distributes Additional Wakalah Zakat to Local Community 25 December 2017 On 26 December 2017, Malakoff Corporation Berhad (Malakoff) distributed an additional of RM52,400 of its Wakalah Zakat fund to the communities at Kawasan 1, Mukim Serkat. The event held at Dewan JKKK Kg Sg Chengkih, Mukim Serkat, Pontian, Johor was attended by Penghulu Mukim Serkat, En. Roslan bin Bokari; Pengerusi JKKK Kawasan 1, En. Abdul Samir bin Mahadi; Pengerusi Masjid Al Amin, Tuan Haji Abd Hafidz bin Haji A Rahman and Malakoff representatives. Out of the RM52,400, a total of RM17,400 was allocated for education assistance to 182 primary and secondary school children as well as 6 IPTA students from the local community. The objective of the education assistance was to ease the burden of the students’ school expenses for the upcoming school term. Subsequently, Malakoff also handed over RM35,000 to Masjid Al Amin Sg Dinar that would be used to procure a Van Jenazah for the local community. The latest Wakalah Zakat fund contribution of RM52,400 was in addition to the RM50,000 that was allocated to the same local community in 2017 to cater for relevant religious assistance and activities. Apart from Wakalah Zakat distribution, Malakoff has also undertaken various collaborative community engagement activities as part of Malakoff’s CSR commitments to the local community where it operates.

  • TBPP Holds OctobeRUN to Celebrate its 17th Anniversary

    Sharing important news and updates for you and the community Back TBPP Holds OctobeRUN to Celebrate its 17th Anniversary 27 October 2023 On 27 October 2023, Malakoff Corporation Berhad (“Malakoff”)’s Tanjung Bin power Plant (“TBPP”) had collaborated with Malaysia Civil Defense Department and Pontian Traffic Police to organise an ‘OctobeRUN 2023’ in conjunction with TBPP’s 17th anniversary. The event, held at Tanjung Bin Complex's Alpha Gate, aimed to raise awareness about the importance of maintaining good physical and mental health while fostering camaraderie among staff. Close to 140 participants, including TBPP and TBE staff, community members of Mukim Serkat as well as their in-house contractors, attended the event. The event kicked off with a warm-up session, and the official start was led by the Plant Manager of TBPP Encik Saiful Ahmad. Participants then sprinted from the starting line through the running route, concluding at Tanjung Bin Complex. Recognising the achievements of the top three male runners, Muhammad Harussani Ismail clinched the first position, followed by Mazrim Mashar in second place, and Wan Mohd Izzuddin Wan Hamad in third. In the female category, Nabila Ain Ahmad claimed the first spot, with Nurisma Md Omar securing second place and Nurul Afzainizah coming in third. As a token of appreciation for their efforts, a breakfast spread was organized for the staff, providing an opportunity to strengthen their professional connections. Overall, OctobeRUN was a resounding success, and we express our gratitude for the collective effort of everyone involved. It was truly uplifting to witness each participant showcasing not only their competitive edge but also embodying a strong spirit of sportsmanship. We appreciate the enthusiasm and dedication that contributed to making the event a memorable and successful occasion. The OctobeRUN event is part of Malakoff’s commitments towards the UN SDG Goal No. 3 where we promote healthy lifestyles and provide preventive measure and efficient healthcare for our staff and the community. We would like to thank everyone for their participation, and we hope to see you again next year!
