Sharing important news and updates for you and the community Back TNB, EPU Futsal Teams Championed in Friendly Annual Tournament 13 September 2018 On 8 September 2018, Malakoff organised a friendly futsal tournament for the sixth year running with participating teams from the Economic Planning Unit (EPU), Energy Commission (EC), Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) and Malakoff, at Ampang Sports Planet. The day started as early as 8.00 am as 56 players, comprised of 4 Men and 3 Women teams, competed in a round robin format. Their colleagues and family members also came as a show of support to the players and lifted their spirits to perform in their matches. En Mohd Shokri Daud, Senior Vice President, Local Generation Division of Malakoff, arrived to support Team Malakoff and mingled with players from other teams, before performing a gimmick penalty shot to mark the start of the event. In the Men’s category, players from Malakoff, EPU, EC and TNB put up a good fight by making impressive maneuvers throughout their matches and strategised to outdo their opponents. Each time the players succeeded in beating their opponent’s defense and the ball passed through the keeper, the supporters jumped and roared in delight. The atmosphere was tense in anticipation to see who would emerge champion. While the other teams worked hard to outdo each other, TNB ultimately won in the Men’s category against EPU, Malakoff and EC. The players from the Women’s category also displayed such skills as they competed with each other. EPU, TNB and Malakoff made up the teams for the women’s category and played with spirit and strength, as good if not better than their male counterparts. TNB and Malakoff performed admirably but in the end, they were no match for the EPU team, who emerged as champions. The prizes to all winners were presented by En Mohd Ramli Abu, Head of Local Generation Division Services, of Malakoff. Zurina Mohd Noor, a player from TNB thanked Malakoff for the invitation. “This tournament is a good platform for networking and strengthening our working relationship besides promoting a healthy lifestyle through sports,” she added.
